Best part of 2011

What was your favourite part of this year? Why was this a highlight for you? What is your best memory?

KBC trip

On Friday of Week 6 we went on a trip to the KBC. We had to learn to work together as a team to put up tents. Later we enjoyed playing board games , soccer and gutter board before packing up the tents and heading back to school.

Our Term 4 Inquiry Learning topic is Codebreaker: Mission Control

As a focus for our Inquiry work this term we have been talking about how we think electronic toys work. We have been exploring and discovering how to programme directions into the Bee-bots to make them move around a map. We needed to do some problem solving to figure out the best way to make the Bee-bots do what we want them to. In the next couple of weeks we will get to design our own maps to use with the Bee-bots!

Class Song

'Fireflies' will be our class dance for the Middle School dance party in a couple of weeks. We will be developing and working on dance moves for this song over the next little while.

Mad Scientists

This term we have been thinking like scientists for our Inquiry unit 'Codebreaker: From this to that'. Last week we had to plan our own experiments in groups (using the 'what if' and 'prediction' thinkers keys). We chose things we were interested in mixing together to see what would happen. We planned our experiments as a comic strip then took photos of ourselves doing the experiments. We used these photos to publish our work as a comic strip using the laptops and a programme called 'Comic Life'.

Mentos and Diet Coke

Today we decided to see what would happen if we added mentos to diet coke - just like on the show myth busters. First we added 3 mentos and the coke fizzed up. The second time we added 6 and the coke fountain was much taller!
